What is Retire Your Ride?

Retire Your Ride is a national vehicle recycling program aimed at improving air quality and promoting sustainable transportation by efficiently and effectively retiring 1995 model year and older vehicles.

Retire Your Ride is an initiative of the government of Canada and is directed nationally by a not-for-profit organization called Summerhill Impact. The program is delivered by the New Brunswick Lung Association in partnership with the Newfoundland and Labrador Lung Association

If you own a 1995 or older vehicle that is ready to be retired, we’ll recycle its parts in an environmentally friendly manner and reward you for participating.

Did you know?

A vehicle from 1995 or earlier produces 19 times more air pollution than a 2004 or newer vehicle.

Vehicle emissions are one of the primary contributors to smog in Canada. Exposure to smog is associated with a number of illnesses, including cardiovascular disease, lung disease, and eye, nose, and throat irritations. Plus, smog can worsen existing lung diseases such as COPD and asthma.

Who can particiate?

If you own a 1995 model year or older vehicle that is in running condition and has been properly registered and insured for the last six months you are eligible for the program.
